galvanization

Galvanization is a method of physiotherapy based on the use of a weak electric current to treat various diseases. This method is widely used in medical practice due to its effectiveness, safety and minimal number of contraindications.

Direct current is supplied through electrodes that are placed on the patient's skin in the area of the lesion or in accordance with the therapeutic technique. It helps to improve blood circulation, stimulate nerve endings, relieve pain and accelerate regenerative processes in tissues.

Galvanization

When the method is applied

Galvanization is prescribed for a wide range of diseases and conditions associated with impaired function of the nervous, muscular or bone systems. It is effective as an independent method of treatment, and as part of complex therapy. The main indications for use include:

  • Diseases of the nervous system–Neuritis, neuralgia, radiculitis, paresis and paralysis.
  • Pathology of the musculoskeletal system–arthritis, arthrosis, osteochondrosis, myositis.
  • Injuries and their consequences–Contusions, sprains, fractures in recovery.
  • Chronic pain syndromes–migraines, back pain, joints or muscles.
  • Impaired circulation–the initial stages of varicose veins, trophic disorders.
  • Gastrointestinal diseases–gastritis, biliary dyskinesia.
  • Skin pathologies–Long-term non-healing wounds, trophic ulcers.

Galvanization is also used in cosmetology to improve skin condition, stimulate regeneration and reduce swelling. However, the procedure has contraindications, such as cancer, acute infectious processes, severe cardiovascular pathologies, epilepsy and the presence of metal implants in the area of exposure.

How the procedure works

The procedure is carried out in a specially equipped physiotherapy room. The patient is located on the couch, and the specialist prepares the necessary electrodes and apparatus. The process includes several stages:

  • The skin in the affected area is cleaned and degreased to ensure good contact of the electrodes. If necessary, a special pad moistened with water or a medicinal solution is applied to the skin (in the case of medicinal electrophoresis).
  • Electrodes (anode and cathode) are fixed on the body using elastic bandages or suction cups. Their location depends on the area of treatment and the chosen method.
  • The physiotherapist sets the current strength (usually 5).–50 mA) and duration of the procedure (10-30 minutes), focusing on the diagnosis and condition of the patient.
  • During the session, the patient may feel a slight tingling or heat in the area of exposure. The current is applied gradually to avoid discomfort.
  • After the procedure, the electrodes are removed, the skin is treated, and the patient is given recommendations for further behavior (for example, to avoid hypothermia).

Galvanization sessions are usually carried out daily or every other day, the course of treatment is 10-20 procedures depending on the disease. It is important that the procedure is carried out by a qualified specialist, as the wrong technique or incorrectly selected parameters can reduce the effectiveness of treatment or cause side effects, such as skin irritation.

Results

Galvanization has a complex effect on the body, which makes it an effective method of treatment and rehabilitation. The main results that can be expected after the course of procedures include:

  • Removal of pain syndrome due to reduced excitability of nerve endings, which helps to reduce pain in neuritis, arthrosis and other conditions.
  • Improving blood circulation by stimulating microcirculation, saturating tissues with oxygen and nutrients.
  • Reducing inflammatory processes, reducing swelling and inflammation in the affected tissues.
  • Stimulation of regeneration by enhancing the recovery of damaged tissues, which is especially important for injuries and chronic wounds.
  • Increased muscle tone, which is especially important for paresis and muscle weakness, as well as improved neuromuscular conduction.
  • General relaxation, calming effect on the nervous system, reducing stress and improving well-being.

The effectiveness of treatment depends on proper diagnosis, compliance with the technique of the procedure and the individual characteristics of the patient. In most cases, patients notice an improvement after 3.–5 sessions, and a lasting therapeutic effect is achieved after the completion of the full course.

Neuro-clinic specialists will ensure the safety and high efficiency of procedures that will significantly accelerate rehabilitation and improve the quality of life of chronic patients. We work with the most modern methods, using innovative equipment, and reasonable prices make our assistance even more affordable.
